Being a mother to a 20-year-old and a mother-teacher to scores of children for over 17 years has undoubtedly evolved me as a person. I have become more tolerant and receptive towards children because they like to be heard more than to listen.
It is scientifically proven that a child's attention span is limited. Therefore, varied experiences need to be provided in the form of audio, video, and engaging activities. This makes learning easy and enjoyable.
I understand that each child is different; hence, a child-specific approach needs to be adopted. Different teaching pedagogies, regular practice, and frequent evaluation using a variety of tools help build academic confidence in children. Specific and regular feedback to parents makes them an inseparable part of this journey.
Along with academics, virtues like punctuality, discipline, and being true to oneself also need to be emphasized, because education aims at the overall development of the child—our nation’s future. I strive to contribute towards building youth who are assets to our society.
