The Oral Radiology course provides dental students with comprehensive knowledge and practical skills in the principles and applications of diagnostic imaging in dentistry. The course covers both fundamental and advanced aspects of oral and maxillofacial radiology, emphasizing accurate interpretation and clinical decision-making.
Students are introduced to the physics of radiation, radiation safety and protection, and the techniques of intraoral and extraoral radiographic imaging. The course also focuses on the identification of normal anatomical landmarks across various radiographic modalities and the recognition of common imaging errors.
Advanced components include the interpretation and differential diagnosis of pathological conditions affecting the oral and maxillofacial region based on radiographic features. Students will also gain exposure to Cone Beam Computed Tomography (CBCT), including basic software navigation and advanced treatment planning for guided surgeries
