I am currently studying in an Early Childhood Education-related program, have completed one year of professional training, and have one year of tutoring experience at the elementary school level. During this time, I have mainly supported students in Chinese, Mathematics, and basic Science, helping them gradually build understanding and confidence in learning.
In my teaching, I do not simply follow the textbook pace and move forward mechanically. Instead, I first make sure that the child truly understands each concept before moving on. For example, in Mathematics, I focus on ensuring students understand the logic behind calculations; in Chinese, I help build reading comprehension and language sense rather than relying only on memorization or repetitive drills.
I have observed that many students who struggle are not lacking effort, but rather have gaps in foundational understanding from the beginning, which makes it harder for them to keep up later. Therefore, my teaching focus is not on rushing through the syllabus, but on rebuilding a solid foundation so that students can truly understand the material, complete tasks independently, and develop a willingness to continue learning.
In addition, I adjust my teaching approach according to each student’s learning pace and needs. Some students need more examples, some require repeated practice, and others benefit from a slower, step-by-step explanation. I use a patient, guided approach to help students build confidence in a low-pressure learning environment.
