My teaching philosophy centers on building a strong foundation of concepts and learning skills that enable students to think independently and learn continuously. Across all my courses, I guide students to evaluate evidence, think critically, construct reasoned arguments, and communicate clearly in both written and verbal forms. I also emphasize applying core principles to new and unfamiliar contexts — competencies that prepare students for diverse academic and professional challenges.
While I prioritize these transferable skills, I expect students to achieve deep scholarship in subject-specific content, particularly in graduate courses where mastery directly supports their career goals. To develop both general thinking skills and content understanding, I structure every course around three pillars: a strong emphasis on psychological research, the deliberate development of writing skills, and cultivating enthusiasm for scientific inquirers.
