Hi, I am Akash Suman.
How I Teach? Ownership Through Inquiry: When a student struggles to grasp a concept, I don't see it as their failure; I see it as a creative challenge to find a more elegant way to explain it. I believe that to truly understand Math or Science, you must interrogate every step by asking 'Why?' If you can’t explain the reasoning behind a move, you don't yet own that step.
I help students achieving their goals by replacing rote memorization with visual logic and meta cognitive inquiry. Instead of just providing rules, I introduce mathematical traps. I challenge their assumptions by presenting counterintuitive problems, which helps in breaking the habit of autopilot solving. This forces students to slow down and defend their logic, transforming a passive lesson into an active debate. My belief is that "if you can’t explain the 'why' behind a step, you don't own the step yet." Many times, I opt for intentional error analysis, where I give students a pre-solved problem with a subtle, common mistake, and I ask them to find the logical leak. This builds the self-correction skills necessary for high-stakes exams where precision is everything.
Most people see Physics as a dense forest of variables and rigid laws, and mathematics as a collection of rules to follow, but as a researcher, I see it as the fundamental logic of how the universe breathes, and a language of patterns respectively. My journey into the heart of science and Math began with a restless curiosity, which eventually led me to earn my MS in Physics and a Ph.D. from the Indian Institute of Science (IISc). That research taught me a vital lesson: even the most cosmic phenomena or complex ideas are built on elegant, simple, and logical foundations. My goal is to help students uncover that logic so they never have to rely on 'plug-and-chug' memorization again.
I’ve spent a decade working one-on-one with high school and undergraduate students, guiding them through the nuances of physical science and Math. Whether a student is struggling to grasp the direction of a friction vector or trying to make sense of the invisible fields in electromagnetism, I’ve seen it all. My two years at Byju's, where I designed digital lessons for thousands of learners, further refined my ability to translate complex theories into accessible stories. Across every role, my mission is the same: to strip away the 'scary' Physics and Math and replace it with the genuine 'aha!' moment that comes from truly understanding how the world works.
Even as I continue my own research, my passion for teaching remains at the forefront. I am excited to bring my experience in research, data analysis, and pedagogical design to my remote teaching program.
