I am an MBA from IIM Ahmedabad and had scored a 740(Q-50, V40) on my GMAT. I had also secured admission to some of the top 20 B-schools in the world. I have encountered many aspirants who have a fear of the GMAT Quant section as they are not from an Engineering or Science background. I implore you to not be worried about it.

GMAT Quant has been deliberately kept at a high school level, so that it's a level playing field for everybody. Additionally, The hardest parts of high school math—calculus and trigonometry — are NOT even tested on the GMAT. Also, as the GMAT quant questions are not open ended, you can often use smart techniques like plugging in numbers and back solving etc which will help you get to the right answer.

I am going to begin with the basics and go on to teach you all these techniques to be used effectively on exam day.

Even the Verbal section can be dealt with effectively using the correct strategy. Remember, the verbal questions in the GMAT are essentially logical ability questions masquerading as Sentence Correction, Critical Reasoning and Reading Comprehension. Adopt the right strategies and you can use a process of elimination to arrive at the correct answer.
