Experienced Mathematics Teacher. PhD in Sociology from The University of Chicago. Alumnus IIT Delhi, Indian Maritime University, Kolkata, and JNU. 99% in math in CBSE class 12 Board exam. GRE score - 2310/2400, Verbal - 780/800, Quantitative - 800/800. IIM CAT Score - 99.58%le. Taught, in the classroom as well as online, and counselled students in choosing their career and applying to various higher education institutions.
I have been teaching and guiding students since I was a high school student, starting with my sisters’ children during vacations. Right now I teach math to students of classes 9-12. I also teach physics and chemistry to students of classes 9 and 10. Taught students preparing for GRE and GMAT at Princeton Review.
Since students excel in math only when their foundation is strong, I test them on math topics of the previous academic year, teach them on the topics where their foundation needs to be strengthened, and then move on to the current academic year math. I teach students not only from the standard NCERT textbooks, but also from Exemplar Problems. My students also study math from R. D. Sharma and physics from H . C. Verma as accompanying texts. I ensure my students have some idea of where they will be when they are 30; that inculcates long-term thinking about their studies. I expect them to be sincere and hardworking. They are expected to do a lot of self-study and come to me with all their doubts. I encourage my students to WhattsApp me all the work they have done on the exercises in the NCERT mathematics book. Mainly because I focus less on teaching every topic and more on clearing their doubts on all the topics, my students generally complete their syllabus in about half the academic year with a greater depth of knowledge than a typical student does in a full academic year. In the CBSE Board exams, my class 10 students generally raise their math score by more than 25 marks.
Among the students who have given reviews here, Shashwat joined computer science BTech at the University School of Engineering, Chandigarh University. Ashmit joined mechanical engineering BTech at Vellore Institute of Technology.

My first proper student was my nephew, Sanjeev, eight years younger to me. I got him admitted to my boarding school and later made him finish class 9 and 10 NCERT math during the summer vacation after class 8; he went on from being above average in class to be among the toppers. He passed the IIT JEE in 1988 with All India Rank 239. In 1992, when he got BTech from IIT Kanpur, he topped his mechanical engineering department.

The best teacher and mentor I ever had

I joined Mahesh sir in April of 2019. At that time I was just an average in maths. Sir told me to start from basics but before that he told me to cover up my class 9 flaws. I listened to him advice which helped in a lot with my class 10 studies. We completed my syllabus by the month of November. Later he told me to go through ncert books thoroughly as many times as possible before boards exam. Finally I achieved a score of 97 in maths and 94 in overall boards result. He helped me to find my field of interest and guided me with my future study plans. He is a great teacher and a mentor. And truly one of the best teachers I had ever met.

The best maths teacher i ever encountered

I joined him in August 2018, I had to appear for my matriculation exam next year and had pretty basic mathematical aptitude, not enough to score more than average marks in boards, mahesh sir started teaching me from the very basic and managed to complete my syllabus by December, he not only tutored me in maths but also helped me in physics and English.
He is a very good mentor, and really takes care of his students, he solved many of problems which I encountered during my preparation .
Due to his efforts I managed to score 94.4 percent in my 10th boards which would not have been possible if he wouldn't have been my teacher and my guide. I am so blessed to have him as my teacher
