Hi, my name is Sonia, I am a RIBA Part 2 architectural assistant.
I graduated in my (MArch) Master of Architecture with Distinction, from the Manchester School of Architecture, ranked the 7th best Architecture School worldwide. During my time at MSA, I really enjoyed undertaking research driven designs around feminist architecture. I was awarded as one of the best students in Research Methods and got 80/100 overall mark on my Master's dissertation. I hold a First Class Honour Bachelor Degree in Architecture from the University of Liverpool, and I have undertaken a scholarship funded semester abroad at the University of South Australia in Adelaide, where I completed my studies with High Distinction. I hold a preparatory diploma in Interior Design and Architecture from the London Metropolitan University, where I graduated from with High Distinction. During my studies I have also worked in practice, as an Architectural Assistant at Pitman Tozer Architects, in London and at JPE Design Studio in Adelaide, South Australia.

My teaching methodology consists of first identifying and addressing the student’s weaknesses and goals during our very first class and giving a clear plan of action. The teaching plan is completely tailored to the student’s goals needed to be achieved for a successful submission within the requested timeframe, with no waste of time.
After we have established and agreed on what needs to be done, my tutorial classes are structured in a very conversational and informal way, with the aid of supporting material such as precedent drawings, my past work, I help my students achieve what they are missing by carefully explaining how to do so with written feedback on their work.
Before our teaching classes, it is important that I am given enough time to review all existing work to highlight potential mistakes and weaknesses that might affect your academic mark. Afterwards, I provide written and/or verbal feedback during our tutorial classes.
Alternatively, we can review your work during our tutorial time, and I can provide verbal feedback during the tutorial and written feedback after it.
Finally, we will discuss how to improve work as quickly as possible during our tutorial classes and set a list of things to be ready for submission or to be presented for our next session.
Additionally, I am generally always available for quick feedback via WhatsApp and email between our lessons if the student gets stuck with work.
My teaching philosophy is based on providing constant support to ensure quality of work and enrich our academic journey together. I don't want students to consider myself as a tutor, but rather as a knowledgeable course mate who helps students succeed within our field.
