I believe in fundamental understanding of concepts as the key of mastery of subjects. For this to work, one-to-one discussion between tutor and student is needed to identify the understanding of the student, and then practices may then be included to build up the conceptual understandings.
Wherever possible, I like to include some practical demonstration and using teaching aids like computer software such as Excel, MATLAB for visualizations and practical demonstrations.
I love sharing the practical applications in real life of scientific principles and mathematical techniques as it would make learning science more interesting.
Results:
- I have turned around 5 weak students to pass their mathematics exam and gain entry into technical colleges and polytechnics;
- Coaches 8 trainee technicians on basic mathematics and fundamental physics and helped them pass the professional certifications
- Peer-tutored 6 undergraduate students in engineering, physics, and maths related courses by using computer software as a teaching aids.
