Championship Winning Coach, FIDE Instructor, IA FIDE Rating Peak 2000+
As a Coach, I take the time to ensure the basics are understood properly, as the basics are the foundation on future success is built. I place emphasis on individual work and assign lot of homework for students to complete on their own time. Most Tactical practices will be Home Assignments to make for effective management of time. I talk about the history of Chess and Past Champions in the context of the lesson, as it gives the child a greater appreciation for the game, which will hold him/her in good stead in the years to come.
The lessons utilize classical and current games, focusing on the Soviet School of Chess and the World Chess Federation Trainers Commission Literature, including ideas from the Steps Method used with success in the Netherlands,
I place a particular emphasis first on Tactics and Endgames, and will focus only on the Opening Phase when a student is more advanced, and can work towards building a Personal Opening Repertoire.
