With over 10 years stage experience, and almost equal teaching experience, I firmly believe that for playing the Violin, right techniques always form the backbone. I believe a teacher must be a good player first, with possession of all the teaching skills. And for being a good player, techniques are the most important. And then comes interpretation of music, along with other necessary intricacies like communication, phrasing, dynamics and intonation! Western classical is not very prominent in at least eastern part of India. I hope for a western classical music loving Kolkata, in the midst of all the bollywood and other popular music.
