I started out tutoring out of the need to help my fellow course mates and younger ones when I realized some concepts, topics and theories proved a bit difficult for them to comprehend.
I try to first understand the level of my student by letting him/her/otherwise tell me where and where he needs help
Then I draft a plan stating steps or modules on how we'd tackle each topic / challenge one by one
And after every milestone, I review the student personally and get feedback if we've really turned every stone.
