I believe that no two learners are the same, so I can never teach all my learners in the same way, I take time to get to know my learners and their learning styles then I adapt my teaching methodology to best suit them.
In the years I've been working as a tutor I have learned that some learners don't struggle with their academics but rather with confidence and anxiety that is related to their academics, so I create an environment that encourages them to be independent and confident thinkers which helps build their confidence in themselves and their academic ability and this doesn't only help them improve in their academics but often in other areas of their lives as they discover that they are capable of achieving at whatever they want to achieve.
My approach has helped me not only help learners in mainstream schools but also learners for remidial schools, who have seen their grades by 20% - 40% over a period of a year.
I also encourage my learners to think about what they aspire to be in the future and help them find ways to make decisions that get them closer to these goals. I encourage them to go on university campus tours, job shadowing, sports trails and additional hard and soft skills training if they have the opportunity to, this helps them become all-rounded individuals.
